Fellowship and learning during Hamilton cathedral Lenten series

The evenings feature screenings of a Formed series called “Forgiven: The Transforming Power of Confession”. The evenings have been led by Fr Isaac Fransen and a group of young adults, and the screenings are followed by a small group discussion in which each group responds to a question related to the episode.
After five minutes, the questions are rotated among the groups.
“Forgiven” helps people grow in their understanding of the significance of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Priests are on hand at the evenings so that those who wish to do so can go to Confession.
Writing in the Catholic Diocese of Hamilton’s Clearly newsletter, Sikva Javaid stated that “these evenings have been a time of growing closer to Our Lord, as well as true Christian communion, laughter, fellowship and a good cup of tea”.
“On the third evening, we reflected on the Christian [saying], ‘Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi’ which is ‘the law of prayer is the law of belief, is the law of what is lived.’
“This is the power of the sacraments, the liturgy and the rituals of the Catholic faith – they teach how to pray so that we may express what we believe, which shapes our very lives,” Javaid said.
Formed is a faith formation platform that guides and supports Catholics on their spiritual journey. This resource comes from the US-based Augustine Institute in Florissant, Missouri. The Institute is a private Catholic graduate theology school that produces catechetical videos, records audio drama productions, publishes books and distributes Catholic media materials.
