Writing in the Hamilton Diocese newsletter Clearly, diocesan schools education manager John Coulam reported that Miss Joblin retired at the end of term 1.
“Thank you Kath for your faith-filled leadership, may you now get the well-deserved break that awaits,” Mr Coulam said.
A letter from the St Thomas More School Board last year said that, since 2001, Miss Joblin has “been instrumental in growing our school to be the faithful and close-knit community that it is today”.
“Kath has helped shape hundreds of children’s lives. Every student who leaves St Thomas More does so with fond memories of their time here, a wonderful faith in God and an excellent education.
“This is testament to her hard work and dedication as its principal.
“ . . . It is with the deepest gratitude that we thank her for her years of service. . . .”
In a school Facebook post, Miss Joblin expressed thanks for the love and support she had received leading up to her retirement.
“I feel like I have achieved what I set out to do – creating a wonderful school – and now it is the right time to pass on this special taonga . . . . I will always remember you and may God bless you always”, she said.
Lisa Broadmore started as the new principal of the school at the start of term 2. Mrs Broadmore was formerly the deputy principal of St Mary’s Catholic School in Tauranga.
In a post on the school’s Facebook page on her first day, Mrs Broadmore said: “I feel truly blessed to be part of such a vibrant, faith-filled community where love, service and excellence are not only spoken about, but lived out each and every day”.
