The first-ever Jubilee Youth Fest in Palmerston North Diocese was celebrated with joy, energy and faith.

More than 90 young people attended the Youth Fest at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Palmerston North on August 2.

The day began with a Mass celebrated by Bishop John Adams, and this was followed by keynote speakers, games, workshops, praise and worship, adoration, and Reconciliation. There was also a pizza lunch.

The Young Church Ministers from Palmerston North Diocese who organised the day were thrilled with the turnout.

Xellma, who took part in the Jubilee Youth Fest, said that one thing that really stuck with her from the event was “the message that Jesus is our anchor, remaining with us through the toughest storms and calmest waves. His love is unwavering and steadfast”.

“This experience has opened a new door in my faith journey, and I am more than excited for what’s to come,” she said.

Keren said the Jubilee Youth Fest was “a really great experience”.

“There were several great talks about what it means to be a Pilgrim of Hope, and I left feeling inspired and enthusiastic about God and his Church,” Keren said.

Young Catholics throughout the world took part in similar events on August 2, including the Jubilee of Youth in Rome, in which more than one million young people participated. It is likely that the Youth Fest will become an annual event for Palmerston North Diocese.
