March for Life attracts 1500 to walk up Queen St

(Voice for Life)

Some 1500 people walked up Queen Street in Auckland on March 7 in the 2026 National March for Life.

People from throughout Aotearoa New Zealand travelled to Auckland for the event described as a “celebration of life and family, and a voice for the voiceless – our unborn children”.

The march started at the bottom of Queen St, at Te Komititanga Square. From 2pm, marchers walked up Queen St to Myers Park, where there were speeches.

One of those on the march was pro-life campaigner Brendan Malone, who said, “When you go to a pro-life march there is no violence, no rioting, no hatred and venom. There’s love, there’s faith, there’s hope, there’s family, there’s human dignity – and it’s a beautiful thing to witness and be part of on this glorious Auckland Saturday!”

Among messages on signs carried by marchers were, “We march for those who can’t”, “Bodily rights begin in the womb” and “Love them both”.

The March for Life advised participants not to engage with any counter-protestors and to “be respectful of all people and stay focused on the cause of promoting and celebrating life, lovingly and graciously”.

The March for Life website stated that, “More than half a million pre-born children have violently lost their lives to abortion in New Zealand. Countless mothers regret their abortions and carry the wounds of their experiences. The negative impact on women, men and our nation’s children is personally experienced by so many every single day.”

The March for Life is endorsed by a wide range of Catholic, Christian and pro-life organisations.
