Marriage movement celebrated at Auckland conference
(NZ Catholic)
Bringing together couples from Australia, the Philippines, Timor Leste and New Zealand, the International Teams of Our Lady Oceania Conference offered a dynamic and heartfelt introduction to the movement. About 90 people participated in activities over a recent weekend.
Teams of Our Lady supports married couples through small teams of five to seven couples who meet monthly in one another’s homes. Sharing meals, prayer, Scripture and honest conversation, often accompanied by a priest or spiritual advisor, Teams groups become places of encouragement, accountability and grace. Through this supportive community, couples grow closer to God and to each other as they journey toward holiness.
The conference theme, “Transformed by Grace, Guided by Love”, came alive through keynote presentations, personal testimonies, breakout discussions and reflective prayer.
Married couples shared powerfully on dialogue, decision-making, sacramentality and living faith in everyday life. Clergy and lay leaders offered theological and pastoral insights rooted in real experiences of marriage.
Highlights included a panel discussion on marriage and Teams, a joyful gala dinner and Sunday Mass celebrated by Bishop Steve Lowe. Time for fellowship, reflection and prayer was woven throughout, creating a strong sense of connection and shared mission.
