Fr Marco Tanghetti IC visited the college on July 31 and met with the special character leaders.
“I am humbled and delighted to experience the Rosminian charism so alive, bringing such cohesion at Rosmini. Surely this is a sign of God’s providence working through the very inspiring headmaster, staff and boys. I really thank them for their example,” Fr Tanghetti said.
Student leaders delivered presentations, showcasing faith, service and leadership initiatives in the school. Fr Tanghetti, who is Italian, offered encouragement and global insight to the ministry teams.
This year is a special year of prayer for vocations for the Rosminians as the order prepares for the 200th anniversary of its founding. Fr Targhetti shared that “the English language novitiate has a great group of young men from England, Italy, Venezuela and Vietnam. We look forward to a Kiwi or two as well. Maybe a Rosmini College past pupil or another Aucklander will step forward!”
In Aotearoa New Zealand, he also visited Sacred Heart Parish in Dunedin and St Peter’s College in Gore, as well as St Mary’s Parish in Palmerston North, where Rosminians are also serving.
Prior to being elected superior general, Fr Targhetti led the Rosminian mission in Venezuela. He is in regular contact with the priests and sisters there following the recent devastating earthquakes.
