Bible Society NZ’s distribution up 14pc last year

Bible Society NZ’s 2025-26 annual report stated that 95,857 Bibles were sold through the stores, up from 83,915 for the previous 12 months.

The sales included 3290 Māori Bibles and New Testaments, 5754 Samoan Bibles, 3070 Tongan Bibles, 12,816 Children’s Full Bibles and 12,735 “other language” Bibles.

The annual report shares the story of a man who had been a customer for many years, supporting the ministry even when he was homeless. He would visit the Manna store in Christchurch daily with 10 cent pieces that the store held for him until he had enough to buy his next Bible. He would immediately give this Bible away and start his next 10 cent fund.

Among highlights for 2025-26 for Bible Society NZ were the release of the first complete Tokelau Bible and the release of an updated Cook Islands Māori Bible.

Bible Society NZ chief executive Neels Janse van Rensburg said that as he reflected on 2025-26, he was “deeply grateful for God’s faithfulness and the generous support of our board, partners, donors, staff and volunteers”.

“Together, we continue our shared mission to help make the Bible accessible to everyone and encourage interaction with it.”

Mr Janse van Rensburg said Bible Society NZ equipped chaplains, schools, churches and other ministries nationwide with Bibles and resources.

“A particular highlight was distributing over 230,000 Easter and Christmas resources, introducing thousands of children and families to the love of Jesus,” he said.
