Hamilton Diocese refreshes and modernises website

(Clearly/Catholic Diocese of Hamilton)

Hamilton Diocese has refreshed its website to make it more modern and accessible.

Over the past few months, a team at the Chanel Centre has been working behind the scenes on a new diocesan website. The goal was to make it easier to find what people need, while creating space for the site to grow and change with the life of the Diocese.

Hamilton Bishop Richard Laurenson led the project, working with representatives from the diocesan Pastoral Team and IT, alongside website developer Frank Communication.

The new website includes a directory of Mass times (including Miha Māori) and Catholic schools, which can be explored by location, map or list. Key policy and safeguarding information is easier to find, and a site-wide search is available from all pages, including the homepage.

Helping inform the design choices was a goal to have the website feel fresh and be welcoming while respecting the tradition of the Diocese.

The Diocese’s coat of arms became the starting point for the new website’s colours and graphics, as the crest contains a good deal of local history and interest.

Traditional font choices, using open-source fonts, complement the design choices and help keep the site simple and easy to read. The diocese website can be accessed at www.cdh.org.nz.
