Fr Cyprian Consiglio OSB Cam (New Zealand Community for Christian Meditation)

The Rome-based secretary general for monastic interreligious dialogue for the Benedictine Confederation is to lead a silent retreat in Aotearoa New Zealand early next year.

Fr Cyprian Consiglio OSB Cam has agreed to lead the New Zealand Community for Christian Meditation (NZCCM) national retreat from January 19-22, 2027.

New and experienced meditators are invited to attend this silent retreat based at the University of Waikato in Hamilton.

A Camaldolese monk, musician, composer, author and teacher, Fr Cyprian has more than a dozen recordings of original music, and has published five books, the latest being Epiphanies of Nature and Grace, as well as numerous articles.

At the retreat, Fr Cyprian will be sharing from his contemplative life how kenosis (emptying) connects to meditation practice.

Throughout each day of the retreat there will periods of meditation and liturgical prayer times, with opportunities to explore the university gardens and talk with an experienced Christian meditator.

The retreat will be in silence from the Tuesday evening until the Friday late morning. On the Thursday evening, Fr Cyprian will give a concert for retreatants.

On the evening of January 22, Fr Cyprian will give a concert at the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hamilton.
