Anglican archbishop to reflect on Venerable Suzanne Aubert

Archbishop Sir David Moxon, a leading figure in Anglican-Roman Catholic relations and the Archbishop of Canterbury’s representative in Rome during the pontificate of Pope Francis, will be one of two main speakers at a special Cullen Breakfast in Wellington on October 29.

Drawing on his knowledge of Suzanne Aubert’s life and legacy, Sir David will explore two questions: What would Suzanne Aubert commit herself to if she arrived in New Zealand today? What is her lasting legacy?

The other main speaker at the breakfast will be Jessie Munro, award-winning author of The Story of Suzanne Aubert, who will share insights into the extraordinary life of a woman whose compassion, courage and vision transformed communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

This event is part of Celebrate Compassion 2026, marking 100 years since Suzanne Aubert’s death.

For the past 20 years, Peter Cullen has arranged and hosted topical and inspirational speakers exploring ideas in the realms of business, arts, culture, sports, politics and more. People from within the Wellington community have benefitted from the insights and information shared by speakers at events at the Wellington Club.

Among the speakers at last year’s breakfasts were Cardinal John Dew, who spoke on “Insights on the Papacy and the Spirit of Christmas” and Br Guy Consolmagno SJ, the then-director of the Vatican Observatory, who spoke on “When Science Goes Wrong: The Cult of Intelligence”.
