NZCEO chief executive announces his resignation

Dr Kevin Shore (NZ Catholic)

Dr Kevin Shore is resigning as chief executive of the New Zealand Catholic Education Office and will finish in December this year.

Dr Shore said he had been discussing stepping down from his NZCEO role and from his position as chief executive of the Association of Proprietors of Integrated Schools with the NZCEO board for the last six months. He submitted his resignation late last year and will continue until December 24.

“As far as I am concerned, it is work as normal until I step down and I remain committed to ensuring the organisation continues to meet the needs of the sector until a new CEO is ready to bring a new broom to our operation,” Dr Shore said.

It is expected that recruitment for a new CEO will commence in the next few weeks. Interviews and an appointment are expected in June.

“This will provide plenty of time for a transition plan to be put in place for the new candidate,” Dr Shore said, adding that he would “provide updates to the sector as the NZCEO Board moves through this important employment process”.

The position will be advertised on the NZCEO website and on employment sites such as SEEK New Zealand.

Dr Shore was appointed as NZCEO chief executive in 2020. He had previously been principal of St Peter’s College, Palmerston North, and before that of Cullinane College, Whanganui.
