NZ woman makes final vows in contemplative order

Charlotte Ning made her final vows with the Sisters of Mary Morning Star overseas and took the name Sr Alba Grace.

Sr Alba Grace attended St Thomas More Catholic School in Mount Maunganui from 2003 to 2005 before continuing her education at Aquinas College in Tauranga from 2006 to 2012.

From her childhood in Mount Maunganui, through NET Ministries and the Catholic Discipleship College, to discovering her vocation with the Sisters of Mary Morning Star, her story was one of learning to trust where God was leading.

On May 22, a group of Aquinas College students and staff attended Mass at St Thomas More. The school community took the opportunity to recognise the faith, love, and support that helped nurture Sr Alba Grace’s vocation over many years, calling her parents, Brian and Laura, forward to be acknowledged.

An Aquinas College Facebook post congratulated Sr Alba Grace “on this sacred and joyful milestone. As you dedicate your life to prayer, devotion and service, may God continue to guide you with strength, peace and joy in your vocation”.

The Sisters of Mary Morning Star lead a life based on monastic tradition, centred on prayer, eucharistic adoration, manual work and biblical study.

“We are incredibly proud to see one of our former students living out her faith so courageously and wholeheartedly,” Aquinas College stated.
