Thousands of people work in various Catholic ministries throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. This CathNews Careers page has been established to support Catholic entities who are looking to recruit staff for their organisations, and a place for people keen to work in Catholic settings to find a job.

Catholic organisations are able to list vacancies here for up to 30 days at the cost of $100 (incl. GST). The site will contain an abstract of a job listing posted on another website (up to 100 words), directing interested parties to that site for more information and to apply.

Whānau Mercy Ministries Trust is a Catholic organisation within the Mercy tradition. Trustees oversee a family of nine Mercy organisations providing secondary education, healthcare, housing and community development services nationally. We are seeking additional Trustees on a staggered basis over the next two years as part of our succession management plan. Therefore, people who are not available immediately should still consider applying.

Religious Education Advisor | Diocese of Palmerston North

The Diocese of Palmerston North is seeking a faith-filled and experienced Catholic educator to join the Catholic Education Office as a 0.6 Religious Education Advisor, beginning January 2027. This permanent part-time role will support schools across the Diocese to strengthen Religious Education, Catholic Special Character, faith formation and curriculum implementation. The successful applicant will work alongside school leaders, teachers and diocesan networks to help nurture Catholic identity and mission in our schools. Applications close Friday 11 September 2026.

General Manager | Catholic Diocese of Auckland

The Catholic Diocese of Auckland is New Zealand’s oldest and largest Catholic diocese, established in 1848 and serving close to 183,000 Catholics from the Far North to the Coromandel. Led by Bishop Stephen Lowe, the Diocese encompasses 68 parishes and 57 Catholic schools, together with a range of social service, housing and community agencies, and has recently launched Reshaping, a diocese-wide programme of renewal for the decades ahead.

The General Manager reports to the Bishop and the Diocesan Administration Council and is responsible for strategic leadership, operational performance, governance support, finance, property, IT and people functions. The General Manager works in close partnership with peer leaders across education, pastoral care, social services and Māori ministry to align resources and delivery with the Bishop’s priorities.
